CLARENCE EDWARD WOODELL SR.
March 24, 1931 – May 25, 2015
Clarence Edward Woodell, Sr., 84, of Sutton, formally of Washington, NC, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Glenville Center, Glenville, WV.
He was born in Centralia, WV on March 24, 1931, the son of the late Reese Wooddell and Ollie Belle Wilson Hosey. Also preceding him in death was his step-mother Mabel Lake Wooddell and step-father Patrick Hosey, Brother; Ted Wooddell.Clarence was retired from the US Air Force as a Master Sergeant, serving in Korea, Japan and Vietnam as a Aircraft Instrument Technician. He also served his country in the military as first enlisting with the Army. He and his wife Dolly were proud members of the Disabled Veterans Association. He was instrumental in starting the First Southern Baptist Church in Sutton, and the First Southern Baptist Church in Little Birch, WV. After moving to North Carolina he was an Ordained Deacon serving First Southern Baptist Church of Chocowinity, N.C. Clarence love to hunt and fish here in West Virginia. He enjoyed nature with his wife Dolly.
He is survived by his loving family, wife; Dolly Coombs Woodell, daughters; Phyllis Lorraine Tickle and Kathyrn Belle Woodell both of TN, Susan Eileen Woodell of Ankorage, AK, sisters; Dorthy Eileen Cutlip, Edethye Lucille Tickle, and Agnes Karpow, 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at First Southern Baptist Church, Sutton, with pastors Richard Demastus and Rick Canfield officiating. Friends may call Saturday after 11:30am, at the church. Military Graveside Rite with American Legion Post #33 will follow the service in Hoover Cemetery Sutton, WV. The family suggest donations to the First Southern Baptist Church Mission fund.
