Mrs. Betty Ann Saunders Cashion, 83, of Greenville, died at her home Saturday, August 1, 2015.

The funeral service will be conducted on Monday at 11 am at St. James United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park.

Betty was born in 1932 in Lee County, NC. She graduated in 1950 from Jonesboro High School and received her degree in education from UNC Greensboro, formerly known as Womens College. In high school and college she was very athletic, playing basketball, softball and swimming. Also while in college she was crowned Miss Sanford.

She was married in 1954 to Mr. Jimmie Cashion. She was employed as an elementary school teacher for 20 years teaching in Sanford, Erwin, New Bern, Reidsville and Rolesville.  After her teaching career she was employed as the secretary to the coaches of the football, track and wrestling teams at NCSU. Most recently she was the secretary to the coach of the basketball team at ECU.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Cashion in 2006.

She is survived by her: sons, Tim Cashion and wife, Neva, of Washington and Ted Cashion and wife, Nancy, of Raleigh; granddaughters, Brooke Ann Flesher and husband, Pat, of Greensboro and Nola Avery Cashion of Rome, GA.

The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 5-7 pm.
