Turnage Spotlight: Local youth stage ‘Annie Kids’ during camp

The whimsical story of Little Orphan Annie was brought to life this weekend during the grand finale of the Beaufort County Arts Council’s summer Broadway Kids Camp camp.
“Annie Kids” showcased the talents of more than two dozen young performers taking part in this year’s camp, which was directed by Neva Cashion of IBX Music Academy in Washington. The cast and crew worked for weeks in preparation for Saturday’s shows, which were presented at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on the stage of the historic Turnage Theater.
Cast in the show were Liv Jones, Julia Feyer, Anna Yoder, Trinity O’Neal, Jenna Walker, Christina Leach, Elanor Davis, Tatum Biggs, Brooklyn Bowes, KatieBowes, Addie Grace Gibbs, Sophie Imes, Cate Calloway Lee, Audrey Miller, Ainsley Moore, Izzy Smith, Maggie Wilder, Cassandra Rodabaugh, Ethan Yoder, Gavin Yoder, John Singleton, Ayden Hamilton, Bailey Gerard, Amelia Woolard and Eric Martinez. Annie’s faithful canine companion Sandy was portrayed by Dixie.
The performers ranged in age from rising kindergarten students to teenagers, according to Cashion.
Joey Toler, executive director of the Arts of the Pamlico, was the show’s producer. In addition to Cashion, the backstage team included LeAnna Holmes, Trent Davis, Claire Holmes, Sydney Tinnel, Diani Teixeira, Stuart Lannon, Tim Cashion, Jennifer Schmitt and Rob Zerniak.
