Bonner Linwood Hollis

Bonner Linwood Hollis, age 83, a resident of Chocowinity, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville. Mr. Hollis was born in Beaufort County on December 20, 1931 to the late Harvey T. and Plum Woolard Hollis.
On November 1, 1952 he married the love of his life, the former Doris Dunbar, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Debra Kay Boyd (Billy) of Washington, and Gary Lynn Hollis (Tawny) of Bath; grandchildren, Brandon Hollis of Holly Springs and Justin Boyd (Melissa), of Washington; and one great-grandchild, Brock Boyd.
Mr. Hollis was the former owner of Hollis Trucking and part owner of D&H Supermarket. He was a member of Haw Branch Christian Church. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the Army during the Korean War. In his leisure time, he and Doris enjoyed camping, fishing and relaxing at their summer home on the Pamlico River. For many years, they also enjoyed RV’ing and toured the United States twice.
A graveside celebration of his life with military honors was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 7, 2015 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington, with Jason Kirkman officiating. Brandon Hollis, Justin Boyd, Kelvin Harding, Earl Chandler, Jeff Hardy and Ron Haselden served as pallbearers. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations and other times at the home. The family and friends travelled in procession to the cemetery from Hillside.
