GREENVILLE — Dr. Weldon Shaffer, a board certified obstetrician-gynecologist, joined Vidant Women’s Care of Washington, 1210 Brown St., on Sept. 6.
Shaffer is a graduate of Temple University School of Medicine and completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital/University of Virginia in Roanoke, VA. His areas of interest include minimally invasive gynecological surgery, treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome and endometriosis, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and treatment of overactive bladder and interstitial cystitis.
“I grew up in a small town of less than 1,000 in rural Pennsylvania and have been practicing in a small university town in southwest Virginia for the past 15 years. Both my parents have ties to the region, my dad played football for N.C. State in the late 50s and my mom is from Duplin county and attended East Carolina University, “ Dr. Shaffer said. “I am excited about practicing in another small town and love the fact that Washington is on the water. I like to hunt, fish, and play golf so this area is perfect for me and my family. The hospital is a great fit and hopefully, with my experience I can offer another perspective for the medical staff.”
Shaffer joins Dr. Bonnie Corley to provide obstetrical and gynecological care at the practice. Shaffer is accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment call 252-975-1188.
