Dan Allen Brooks, age 75, a resident of Brooks Road in Bath, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital. Mr. Brooks was born in Beaufort County on February 9, 1940 to the late Thorne and Pearl Kilby Brooks.  He graduated from Bath High School in 1958 and was formerly employed with Moss Building Supply and was also self-employed in carpentry/maintenance.  He most recently worked for Glen View Apartments. Mr. Brooks proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne. He was a member of the Bath Christian Church.  Mr. Brooks enjoyed fishing, boating, sports, reading and the local store.

Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife, Jessie Carney Brooks; his children, Roger Brooks, Phelicia Brooks Blake, and Caressa Brooks Liverman (Ellis); his step-children, Christy Cox McMurray (Ken) and Tom Cox (Penni); his grandchildren, Taylor McMurray, Lee McMurray, Madison McMurray, Jada Burroughs, Carlie Liverman, Brooks Blake, Zack Blake, Austin Cox and Matthew Cox; his sisters, Betty Everett, Jackie Mullen and Polly Gurganus; and his brother, Ted Brooks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Thorne Boyd, Audrey Dare Schill and Brenda Humphrey and his brothers, Gerald Brooks Jimmy Brooks, Calvin Brooks and Earl Brooks.

A celebration of his life was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Bath Christian Church with Pastor Merritt Watson officiating. Ricky’s Man Cave Supper Club served as honorary pallbearers.  The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bath Christian Church.
