CHOCOWINITY — Unity Christian Academy is benefitting from the kindness of a good Samaritan.
H&H Golf Carts in Chocowinity recently donated a golf cart around the start of the school year for the school to use to make tasks easier.
Dawn Lewis, administrative assistant at Unity Christian Academy, said Kelvin Harding, owner of H&H Golf Carts, is a member at Haw Branch Church of Christ and recognized the need for some type of vehicle to make everyday tasks at the school go a little bit smoother. The school operates out of Haw Branch Church of Christ.
She said they plan to use the golf cart to set up outside events, run errands at sports events, perform ground maintenance and transport books.
“I mean there’s so much,” Lewis said. “It’s just such a generous thing…just the fact that he just offered (it to) us.”
Being a small school that doesn’t have the same resources as bigger schools, she said the golf cart may seem simple to some, but it makes a huge difference to the school.
“We don’t have a lot of extra to be able to do these things,” Lewis said. “It just says a lot about (Harding), too.”
According to the school’s mission statement, “Unity Christian Academy’s philosophy is based upon a Christian worldview holding that God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, the ultimate reality and the source and essence of all goodness and truth. … Effective education can best be accomplished in an environment that recognizes that all truth is God’s truth.”
