Cortez “Joker or Tootie” Lavon Ebron, 26, of Washington, passed on Monday, October 19, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Northside High School, 7868 Free Union Church Rd., Pinetown, NC, officiated by Evangelist Helena Palmer-Smith. Burial will follow at the Northside Cemetery in Belhaven.
The family will receive friends at the home of his parents (Rodney and Sheila Slade), 105 Stuart Place, Washington. The public viewing will be held Saturday, October 24th from 5:00-7:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Home, Washington.
Cortez Lavon Ebron, affectionately known as “Joker and Tootie,” was born on September 29, 1989. He departed this life on October 19, 2015.
Cortez was a graduate of Washington High School in Washington. His passions were making music, singing and sports. During his short life, Cortez touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
Cortez leaves to cherish his memories: his parents, Sheila Columbus-Slade and Rodney Slade of Washington, and Carlos Ebron Sr. of Wilmington, NC; one son: Jahmere Ebron; two daughters: Cuniya Credle, of Greenville, NC, and Keileigh Johnson of Pantego, NC; three sisters: Rakemia Slade of Durham, NC, Kelly Ebron of Hertford, NC, and a God-sister Jada Pickett of Washington; three brothers: Raheem Slade of Durham, NC, Carlos Ebron Jr., of Belhaven, and Nikee Gibbs of Greenville, NC; grandparents: Palice Columubus and Virginia Ebron of Belhaven, Julian Martin (Roxanne), Washington, and Harry Slade (Gwen), Belhaven; one great grandfather: Herbert Garnett of Brooklyn, NY; six aunts: Sheri Martin of Brooklyn, NY, Priscilla Ebron and Latasha Slade of Greenville, NC, Calmetha Ward (Gerald) of Virginia, Neoka Bizelle of Raleigh, NC and Zena Bridges of Clarksville, Tenn.; eight uncles: Julian Martin Jr. of Tennessee, Marquis Martin and Maleek Martin of Brooklyn, NY, Kelton Columbus of Washington, Miller Ebron (Brenda), Stephen Columbus and Julian Columbus of Belhaven and Robert Palmer of Greenville, NC; one niece: Jale’za Alexander; a special friend: Unique Leigh and a host of other relatives and friends.
