Aug. 31, 1935 ­– Dec. 3, 2015

Emily Florence Marie Foster Meekins, age 80, a resident of Bath, died Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

A graveside service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Ryder Hill Cemetery in Pamlico Beach and will be officiated by Reverend Phillip Hall. Bert Gregory Jr., Bert Gregory III, Eric Gregory, Tommy Horn, Sammy Horn and Austin Elks will serve as pallbearers.

Ms. Marie was born in Beaufort County on August 31, 1935 to the late John B. Foster and Effie Florence Meekins Foster. She worked for the Blue Channel Corporation for many years until she retired.

Ms. Marie was a member of the Wades Point Pentecostal Holiness Church. She loved to cook and was a very good cook. Ms. Marie also crocheted, knitted and quilted while her health allowed. She had a heart of gold. Ms. Marie never had any children of her own but loved her nieces and nephews like her own children.

Survivors include one sister, Carol Foster Price, one brother, Julius Foster, both of Bath, many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Brownie Meekins, and three brothers, Harvey Foster, Dewey Foster and John Foster.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Saturday December 5, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and other times at the home of Bert and Michelle Gregory at 25 Paula Lane, Bath.
