Mrs. Sylvia Aldean Baynor Jefferson, age 67, wife, best friend and companion for 49 years, 4 months and 7 days of Rodger D. Jefferson, a resident of Bath, died December 6, 2015 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Everett’s Church of Christ in Pinetown, conducted by Dennis R. Davis. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

The following will serve as pallbearers: J.D. Klapp, Charles Boyd, Mitchell Everett, Galin Ambrose, John Ward and Halson Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be: Kathy Lilley, Teresa Freeman, Derise Regal, Lou Ireland, Wanda Foreman and Alice Waters.

Mrs. Jefferson was born in Beaufort County on January 12, 1948 to the late Theodore H. Baynor and Mavis Ambrose Baynor Mohorn. Mrs. Jefferson graduated from Bath High School in 1966. She was employed as an IMS Inspector with Stanadyne Automotive Corp. for many years until her retirement.

She was a lifelong member of Everett’s Church of Christ, where she was a former member of the Ladies Aide, volunteered for Vacation Bible School, previously sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School. She was also a wonderful cook and loved to bake.

Mrs. Jefferson is survived by her husband Rodger Dale Jefferson, daughter Genia Jefferson Martin and husband Robert, mother Mavis Baynor Mohorn, brothers Ted Baynor and wife Verma, Roger Baynor and wife Terria, James Baynor, step-sister Patricia Mohorn Windley and husband Gary, and step-sister Vickie Mohorn Biggs Lewis and husband David. Mrs. Jefferson was deeply loved by her husband’s family who included Lonnie Hodges, the late Ruby Jefferson Hodges, Barbara Jefferson Overby Bradshaw and husband Laurie, Joann Jefferson Sullivan and companion John Elliot, Brenda Jefferson Clark and husband Eason, Theresa Diane Jefferson Spence and husband John, Michael Jefferson and wife Angela, Peggy Jefferson Taylor and Ricky Jefferson.

In addition to her father, Mrs. Jefferson was preceded in death by a sister Genia Faye Baynor.

The family received friends from 6:30pm to 8:30pm Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Everett’s Church of Christ in Pinetown and other times at the home of Rodger Jefferson, 108 N. Harding Road, Bath. Correspondence can be sent to P.O. Box 156, Bath, NC 27808.
