Washington — The Washington Salvation Army Corps installed six new advisory board members on Tuesday, December 9. Presiding over the ceremony was retired Salvation Army officer Major Bobby Lancaster of Rocky Mount assisted by local Corps commanding officer Lieutenant Bruce Rabon. The newly installed

advisory board members are Wanda Harvey, Katie Mosher, and Mark Tomlinson of Washington, Chip Laughinghouse of Greenville, Steve Creech of Plymouth and Vivian Saunders of Lewiston.

Harvey serves as a legal assistant with the Beaufort County district attorney’s office where she specializes in services for crime victims and witnesses. Mosher is clerk to the Beaufort County board of commissioners, a position she previously held in Pitt County. Before retiring to Beaufort County, Tomlinson served as chief executive officer of The Society of Manufacturing Engineers in Dearborn, Michigan. Laughinghouse, executive director of The Blind Center, previously served on the advisory board of the Salvation Army in neighboring Pitt County for twenty‐one years and most recently served as the Greenville Corps’ public relations director. Creech is senior pastor at Plymouth Church of the Nazarene. He previously served as national director of Nazarene Disaster Response, providing on ground leadership following Hurricane Katrina. Saunders is the founder and chief executive officer of the non‐profit Bertie County Hive House which provides community outreach services to at‐risk youth and their families.

The Salvation Army’s Washington Corps was established in 1937 and is the designated service provider for Beaufort, Hyde, Washington, Martin, Bertie and Tyrrell counties. The international Salvation Army was founded 150 years ago by William Booth.
