Mrs. Ruth Eloise Peed Bright Lewis, age 90, a resident of 120 Main St., Chocowinity, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Greenville.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, conducted by David Linton. Richard Peed Jr., Mark Peed, Larry Linton and Gary Linton will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at her home.

Mrs. Lewis was born in Beaufort County on November 1, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Wilson C. Peed and Mary Eloise Rayburn Peed. She graduated from Washington High School. In August 1942, Mrs. Lewis married Hubert Lee Bright who preceded her in death in January 1987. Mrs. Lewis worked as a secretary in the Education Department of Beaufort County Hospital until she retired in 1992.

In 1994 she married Rodney Lewis who also preceded her in death. Mrs. Lewis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chocowinity. She was very much a true homemaker and caretaker. Mrs. Lewis was dedicated to her family; they were most important in her life.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by two daughters, Carol Warren and Betsy Ward; four grandchildren, Kevin Warren, Michael Warren, Allen Warren and Cynthia Olson and eight great-grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by a grandson, Chuck Ward; two sisters, Viva Mae Brown and Juanita Phelps Baytala; three brothers, William Irvine Peed, Bobby Earl Peed and Richard Dewitt Peed.
