John Mark Ansley, 60, passed away at home Wednesday, December 16, 2015.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 4 PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 until 3:45 PM at the funeral home.
Mark, son of Ruth Drew Ansley and the late Rev. Charles C. Ansley, was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where his father was a Presbyterian missionary. His family returned to the states in 1963. Mark was a graduate of Lees-McRae College and attended East Carolina University. In 1990, Mark founded the Eastern Wildlife Center, which provided volunteer assistance for sick, orphaned and injured wildlife/Raptors.
A Master Automotive Technician, Mark had previously been employed with Greenville Nissan, AAMCO, and Shell Rapid Lube. In 2009, he and his business partner, Mark Smith, opened Mark’s Quick Lube in Greenville.
In addition to his father, Mark was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Drew Ansley.
He is survived by his: wife of 36 years, Connie Buck Ansley; son, Richard Stainback Jr. and wife Mabel of Bayboro; mother, Ruth Drew Ansley, of Black Mountain, NC; sisters, Caroline A. Gardner and husband, Greg, of Crisp, NC; and Nan Saunders and husband, Joe, of Monroe, NC; and a brother, Peter Ansley, of Black Mountain, NC.
