Mrs. Ernestine Gorham Pierce, 91, was born October 2, 1924 and passed on December 16, 2015 at her residence. She had a work history in the nursing profession, from which she retired. She attended and graduated from Washington Colored School in 1941. She also attended Beaufort Community College. Mrs. Pierce was married to Joseph S. Pierce Sr. (deceased). From this union nine children were born, Charles L. Pierce, Vera J. Davis, Joseph S. Pierce Jr. (Yusuf Abdulla), Ernest D. Pierce, William H. X. Pierce (deceased), Yvonne Saleem, Sharon M. Williams (deceased), Marvin B. Pierce and Harold L. Pierce. She leaves 27 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 2:00PM at Trinity Episcopal Church, Hwy. 33W, Chocowinity. Arrangements are by Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington.
