Feb. 16, 1927 – Dec. 28, 2015 

Mrs. Gretchel Mae Rose Watson, age 88, a resident of Pinetown, died Monday, December 28, 2015 at her home.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and will be conducted by Bobby Owens. Burial will follow in the Jackson Family Cemetery.

Andy Jackson, Rodney Jackson, David Jackson, Ivan Sawyer, Anthony Sawyer and Wyatt Brown will serve as pallbearers. Justin Whealton, Dylan Jackson, Calahan Blair and Dawson Jackson will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Watson was born in Hyde County on February 16, 1927 to the late Johnnie and Dezzie Armstrong Rose. She was a 1945 graduate of Gum Neck High School and was a member of Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church in Pinetown. She dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker.

Survivors include four daughters, Jeanette Modlin and husband Steve of Pinellas Park, Florida, Marlean Jackson and husband Carlton of Pinetown, Jackie Smith and husband Larry of Morehead City, Tracy Watson and husband Ray of Pinetown, one brother, Jack Rose of Gum Neck, one sister, Virgie Bateman of Port Richey, FL, ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Neal Sawyer, five brothers and three sisters.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
