Mr. Harvey “Lee” Crisp Jr., age 51, a resident of Washington, died unexpectedly Thursday, December 31, 2015.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Washington, conducted by Rev. Jim Pegan. Burial will follow in the Snowd Branch Church of God Cemetery.

The following will serve as active pallbearers: Keith Manning, Kenneth “Scooby” Keech Jr., Allen Woolard, Harold Tyson, Tony Manning and Wesley Lines.

Honorary pallbearers will be Seth Manning, Adam Manning and Parker Woolard.

Lee was born in Beaufort County on March 26, 1964. He was the son of Carolyn Sue Crisp McCluskey and the late Harvey Lee Crisp Sr. Lee graduated from Washington High School in 1982 and attended East Carolina University. He served in the U.S. Navy for several years. Lee lived most of his life in Beaufort County. He got his start in the electrical field with River City Construction. Later, he worked for several municipalities, including Washington, Belhaven and Ayden. Lee was currently working as a supervisor/foreman for Lee Electrical. While working in Virginia, he taught Sunday School at the church he attended there.

Lee was a member of the Freedom Riders Motorcycle Club for 14 years. He served in the Clarks Neck Fire Department from 1997 to 2002. Lee was a former member of the NRA. He was a member of the Manning Racing team.

Lee was known as a hard worker who was dedicated to his trade. Known as “Smiley” to his friends, he was likeable, fun loving, easy going and lived life to the fullest.

On May 26, 1990, Lee married the former Caroline Cowell, who survives.

Lee is survived by his wife, Caroline Cowell Crisp of the home; his mother, Carolyn Sue Crisp McCluskey and her husband, Kenny of Pantego; sister, Angela Crisp Alaniz of Maury; brother, Frankie Ray Crisp of Greenville; nieces and nephews, Marisa Carmen Crisp and Isaac Ray Crisp, all of Greenville; Candace Buckley of Maury; Jordon Edward Buckley and his wife, Shella Augustine Buckley of Henderson, Nevada; Sara Cowell Coburn of Raleigh; Ryan V. Cowell of Washington; great nieces and nephews, Ethan Manuel Rivera and Halye Elizabeth Rivera, all of Maury; Shane Augustine, Alexa Augustine, Cameron Skyler Buckley, all of Henderson, Nevada; and Lee and Caroline’s “adopted” children, Jessica M. Such, Seth Manning, Adam Manning, Alexis W. Cox, and Parker Woolard.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home of Caroline’s brother, David Cowell, 309 Isabella Avenue, Washington Park.
