Mrs. Linda Jo Tarkington Alligood, age 51, a resident of Mill Hole Road, Washington, died Friday, January 15, 2016 as result of injuries received in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 18, 2016from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, conducted by Tony Krantz. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Doug Alligood, Bryan Alligood, Brent Modlin, Erick Tetterton, Caleb Alligood and Justin Modlin.
Greg Cox, Eddie Buck, Scott Harris and Daniel Miller will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Alligood was born in Dallas, Texas on August 24, 1964. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Edward Tarkington and Helen May Abernathy Tarkington. Mrs. Alligood was a 1982 graduate of Bath High School and a 1984 graduate of Beaufort County Community College. She was an Operating Room Nurse at Vidant Beaufort Hospital for over 30 years. Mrs. Alligood was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ and was the organizer of the Easter Panorama. She coached her daughters’ volleyball, basketball and softball teams for many years. Mrs. Alligood “was a giving, loving, strong woman till the end and will continue giving since she was an organ donor”.
Mrs. Alligood is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Joseph Thomas Alligood, Jr.; daughters, Casey Alligood Coltrain and husband, Ethan G. Coltrain of Washington, Britney Anne Alligood of Greenville, Kendall Lynn Alligood of the home; sisters, Laurie Tarkington Trussell and husband, Jerry of Moyock, N.C., Lisa Tarkington Miller and husband, Gary of Bath; aunt, Lorene Gentry of Carthage, TX; uncle, Charles Abernathy of Grapeland, TX; father and mother in law, Joseph and Carolyn Alligood of Washington; nieces; nephews; cousins; OR Staff and her dogs, Lightening and Kennan.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home.
