The Washington (evening) Rotary Club met Thursday evening at the Washington Yacht & Country Club. President David McLawhorn called the meeting to order. After the Pledge of Allegiance, the melodious Bartow Houston led the large group in one verse of “My Country Tis of Thee.”

A delicious meal and lively conversation were enjoyed by all. The group then moved to the spacious game room for a very interesting program. Mr. Paul Credle, a Rotarian for over 30 years, was guest speaker. Mr. Credle is a Washington native now residing in Tullahoma, Tennessee. He is a registered professional engineer and has traveled in 66 countries. Fulltime retirement now allows him to work with the Boy Scouts and enjoy woodworking. Mr. Credle’s program was entitled Memories of the Last Half of the 76 Years War. Being an avid war historian, he shared many personal memories that spanned from Pearl Harbor to the removal of the Berlin Wall. Mr. Credle told club members we should appreciate what we need to be proud of as Americans. After questions and comments, with there being no further business, Russell Smith led the club in reciting the Four Way Test of the Things We Think, Say and Do.
