Mrs. Marian Jackson Alligood of Dunedin, FL and a former resident of Washington, passed away on January 20, 2016 at the age of 86.

Mrs. Alligood was born in Washington on October 2, 1929 to the late Archie and Lossebelle Brock Jackson. She was married to Elijah “Bud” Alligood Jr. on January 5, 1951. He preceded her in death on August 23, 2005.

She was a 1947 graduate of Washington High School. Until her retirement in April 1992, she was employed for 26 years with the North Carolina Department of Environment, Health and Natural Resources as an Administrative Assistant. During this time, she served for several years as a member of the Secretarial Science Advisory Committee at Beaufort County Community College. Her previous employment was with the Beaufort County Register of Deeds Office and also with the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

Mrs. Alligood enjoyed reading, tending to her plants and spending time on the computer, but her most favorite time was visiting with her family. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Washington.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Alligood Whiting of Dunedin, FL; five grandchildren, Devin Whiting of Seoul, South Korea, Meleah Febles of Ft. Myers, FL, Kellen Whiting of Thomasville, GA, Lyndle Whiting Toth of Gainesville, FL, Jenna Woolard of Roxboro, NC; six great-grandchildren, Jacob Yarborough, Hailey Bass and Jace Woolard of Roxboro, NC, Paul Rogers, Eamon Rogers and Emilia Febles of Ft. Myers, FL; her brother-in-law John C. Alligood of Washington, and her beloved cat, Leo.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter Judith Alligood D’Elia, April 17, 1994.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 30, 2016 in Oakdale Cemetery, officiated by Dr. Jacob Hines. The family will receive friends at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory one hour prior to the service.
