Take your home business to the world market with Etsy

Have you ever wished you could sell your handmade arts and crafts to a wider market via the Internet? Do you have collectibles that you have held onto for 20 years and would now like to sell?

Then this two-part workshop, “Take Your Home Business to the World Market with Etsy,” offered by the Small Business Center at Beaufort County Community College is for you.

The workshop will be 2-5 p.m. Feb. 11 and 18 in room 822 of Building 8 on the BCCC campus.

The workshop is offered free of charge but to ensure placement and the adequate preparation of materials, participants are asked to pre-register. To pre-register, participants should call Eva Peartree at 252-940-6375 or email eva.peartree@beaufortccc.edu.

Etsy is a peer-to-peer e-commerce website focused on handmade or vintage items and supplies, as well as unique factory-manufactured items. These items cover a wide range, including art, photography, clothing, jewelry, food, bath and beauty products, quilts, knick-knacks and toys.

The site follows in the tradition of open craft fairs, giving sellers personal storefronts where they list their goods for a fee.

Participants in this seminar will learn what they can and cannot sell on Etsy, how to choose a name and open a shop, what they need to make their shops and merchandise appealing to customers, how to collect money and ship, how to sell internationally and where to go to get help.

The mission of the Small Business Center Network is to increase the success rate and the number of viable small businesses in North Carolina by providing high-quality, readily accessible help to prospective and existing small business owners.
