WASHINGTON EVENING ROTARY CLUB
GUEST SPEAKER: Boyd Overman spoke about the history of physical therapy at this week’s Washington (evening) Rotary Club meeting. Overman (left) is pictured with Rotarian Dr. David Swarner.

The Washington (evening) Rotary Club met Thursday night at the Washington Yacht & Country Club. President David McLawhorn called the meeting to order and Serena Sullivan led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Song leader Bartow Houston led the members in one verse of “America” and Russell Smith gave thanks for the meal. After a great time of eating and fellowship the members moved into the larger game for the evening program. Dr. David Swarner introduced his friend and speaker, Boyd Overman. Overman is a physical therapy specialist with Carolina Physical Therapy Associates, Inc. This very knowledgeable and entertaining speaker gave a full synopsis of physical therapy ranging from the 1950s to current day. Not only does therapy treat an injury, but it also involves the prevention of further injury. Therapy can involve muscular, orthopedic, neurological and cardiovascular. Good therapy helps get you back to the life you enjoy. After a brief question and answer period, Overman was presented the coveted Rotary pen and received a rousing ovation. A great evening came to a close after Sam Grimes led members in the Four Way Test of the things we think, say and do.
