This month is “Fix ‘em in February, in which Beaufort County veterinarians offer reduced rates for spay/neuter procedures. For more information, call Chocowinity Veterinary Hospital at 252-946-9000, Pamlico Animal Hospital at 252-946-2834 or Tar River Animal Hospital at 252-946-2417. Appointments are necessary. In addition to the reduced rates, the Humane Society of Beaufort County (252-946-1591) will give financial assistance to Beaufort County residents where necessary.
Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.

Clair and Tesla
Sleek, stylish and elegant just begins to describe these two female, domestic juvenile kittens with medium length hair. Clair, at four months, is all pristine white with huge eyes, one icy blue and one pale green. Fun-loving, playful and inquisitive, Clair will provide hours of amusement. Tesla is seven months old, with a silky black coat, enormous yellow-green eyes and a bobtail. Tesla is a lover. Calm, affectionate and playful, she loves attention and sweet talk. Clair and Tesla will make wonderful additions in a variety of good forever home settings. Come see for yourself. They are available through Saturday at the shelter.
Yuki
Pretty, friendly, smart, alert, outgoing and energetic, that’s our Yuki. At 10 months old, this medium-size, Siberian Husky-mix is beautiful, with stunning markings in gray and white. Her large eyes are mesmerizing: one icy blue and the other is warm brown. Fun-loving and frisky, Yuki needs an owner willing to exercise her daily on leash or in a fenced area and give her basic obedience training. Come spend some time with this great dog. Yuki is available through Saturday at the shelter.
