Eastern Elementary students in Jennifer Walker and Shannon Woolard’s kindergarten class enjoy learning through play in the Pizza Parlor Dramatic Play developmental center. Eastern Elementary’s kindergarten classrooms have integrated the developmental centers back into their everyday learning. Students get to actively play while learning not only the kindergarten curriculum, but also basic life and social skills. The students get to help make signs and items for each of their centers. Other dramatic play centers have included a bakery, post office, grocery store, a pet store, and soon to come, a dental office. The kindergarten classrooms at Eastern Elementary have not only seen the academic benefits, but also the love of learning through play and the social benefits from these centers.
