BOYS: FARMVILLE CENTRAL 88, WASHINGTON 65

FARMVILLE — Farmville Central kept its undefeated season rolling by ousting Washington from the 2-A Eastern Plains Conference tournament on Wednesday. The Jaguars’ offense was fueled by Tyler Maye and Michael Taylor, who scored 21 and 20 points, respectively.

Lopsided first and fourth quarters cost Washington the game. The Pam Pack found itself down 26-13 after just eight minutes. The boys managed to tie the Jaguars in the second quarter and outscored them in the third.

Farmville Central capped off the game with a 27-point effort in the fourth.

Sharwan Staton led the offensive effort for Washington with 20 points. Shaiquan Moore added 16, too, and Brandon Jackson had eight.

Playoff seeding and brackets will be released over the weekend.

GIRLS: NORTH PITT 47, WASHINGTON 45

BETHEL — Washington nearly upset top-seeded North Pitt Wednesday, but the Lady Panthers made a last-second basket to advance while the Lady Pack were sent home.

The girls led North Pitt 45-41 with 2:04 left. A basket, a steal and called timeout. Washington’s lead was trimmed to 45-43 and the Lady Panthers had the ball. Ty Gainer laid it in at the buzzer to steal the win. She scored 17 in the winning effort.

Nazayah Parker led the Lady Pack with 15 points and Daria Jones also poured in 10.

The girls may not have had a chance to contend for the 2-A Eastern Plains Conference championship, but they will get some time off to practice ahead of the state playoffs, which start next week.
