EASTERN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: DENTAL HEALTH: Eastern Elementary School students in Jennifer Walker and Shannon Woolard's kindergarten class enjoy learning through play in the dental office dramatic play center. Students had the opportunity to practice what they have learned about dental health, what a dentist does, and most importantly, how to be a good patient when they visit the dentist. A special thanks to Dr. Phillip Cochran of Howdy and Jones, DDS, PA, for donating gloves, bibs and face masks for the dental center. These materials helped the students receive a real experience with items used in a dental office. Students practiced using their reading and writing skills to take dental notes, ask questions about patient dental care, record patient information and even read dental health tips to their patients. The students gained not only knowledge about dental health, but also gained confidence in being a real patient when visiting the dentist. The dental office dramatic play center may have even inspired some of the students to grow up and become a real dentist one day. Pictured (clockwise from top left) are: Karrigan Arnold, Adam Lopez and Yazmin Rimerez; Hadley Brown and Damon Hughey; Adam Lopez and Yazmin Rimerez; and JaKayla Bryant.
