The Washington (evening) Rotary Club met Thursday night at the Washington Yacht & Country Club in the Pamlico Room. President David McLawhorn called the meeting to order. Sam Grimes led in the Pledge of Allegiance and Russell Smith gave thanks for the evening meal.
After some fine southern style barbecue chicken, it was time for business. Dr. Tim Klugh gave an update on the Charlie Griffin Memorial Fishing Tournament to be held in early June. Sponsorships are coming in, but there is much work to be done. Display posters were handed out to help spread the word. Member Melissa Jarvis introduced guest and perspective member Lynn Gold. Lynn was warmly received and encouraged to join our fine group. With there being no program for the night, Serena and Jay Sullivan were asked to update members on the fast-approaching Bond Referendum. They briefly explained the referendum and answered a few questions. All were encouraged to get out and vote. The meeting concluded as Dr. Jeff Rumley led in reciting the Four Way Test of the things we Think, Say and Do.
