Mrs. Barbara Ann Lewis Bright, age 78, a resident of 94 Bright Drive, Chocowinity, died Sunday, March 13, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 17, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Chocowinity, conducted by Dr. Richard Sheriff. The family will receive friends 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the service at the church and other times at her home. A private burial will follow the service.
Mrs. Bright was born in Beaufort County on February 22, 1938, daughter of the late Shelley Glen Lewis and Rena Bell Hodges Lewis. On May 11, 1957 she married Jessie Lee Bright who preceded her in death on December 14, 2005. Mrs. Bright had a wonderful sense of humor and a warm, loving and friendly spirit. She adored her family, including her church family. Mrs. Bright loved to cook as well as going to eat at Dixie Queen Seafood in Winterville. She loved Christmas so much she started preparing for it in October. Mrs. Bright loved a good word search, listening to the Gaither’s, especially Ernie Haase, and raising her vegetable garden. She is going to truly be missed.
Mrs. Bright is survived by a son, Jody Lee Bright and fiancée, Melber Baker of Chocowinity; sister, Jackie Asby of Washington; two sisters-in-law, Jean Lewis of Chocowinity and Eunice Lewis of Bloxom, VA; a brother-in-law, Randall Vaught of Chocowinity and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bright was preceded in death by two sisters, Gilda Woolard and Robin Vaught; and two brothers, Julian (Bill) Lewis and Thomas (Buddy) Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for memorials be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, 1209 Brown St., Washington, NC, 27889.
