The Down East Seniors Club held its March 16 meeting at the Blind Center of North Carolina in Washington. President Ed Hamrick led the meeting. Jim Hackney played for the singing of “God Bless America” and Ed Bolen gave the invocation. Dick Paul provided humor.

Bill Cates introduced attorney David Francisco. Francisco said the three most important parts of estate planning to have are a will, a durable power of attorney and a healthcare power of attorney. He said his family put together a book of memories about his grandparents on his mother’s side. He related a number of stories from the book that took place in the early 1900s in the rural western part of Virginia.

Gene Schwartz won the 50/50 drawing.
