Washington High School becomes ‘Wydell High’

Washington High School of 2016 has been transformed into the fictional Wydell High of the 1950s this weekend, and it’s all thanks to the annual WHS musical.
The students’ version of “Grease” opened Friday evening and continues Saturday at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and tickets are $10.
Heading the cast are Bailey Gerard as Sandy and Connor Smith as Danny. Other headliners include Devin Bunch – Rizzo; Ryan Alligood – Kenickie; Liz Theilan – Doody; Lasheema Boone – Frenchy; Mary Grace Wilder – Patty; Shazmay Williams – Jan; Chris Rawls – Sonny; Enoc Chavez – Rodger; and Giuliana Davis – Marty.
Also cast in the musical are Reiner Daw – Vince Fontaine; Diamond Razor-Barrett – Johnny Casino and Teen Angel; Colston Lyons – Eugene; Kara Hall – Mrs. Lynch; and Kelly Toppin – Cha Cha.
Appearing as the Pink Ladies are Kara Hall, Tonee Winn, Samantha Sheppard and Callie Smith; portraying W ydell cheerleaders are Kimberly Macias, Kamiah Keys, Vanessa Celis and Cassie Teixeira.
Appearing on stage as Burger Palace kids and gamblers are Joe Vick, Zack Woolard, Katelyn Kornegy and Sara Spencer, and students cast as dancers include Kelly Toppin, Kayley Sulc, Katelyn Mizelle, Diamond Razor-Barrett, Cassie Teixeira and Callie Smith.
Working behind the scenes are Thomas Hopkins, Dakota Woolard, Zack Alligood, Mirian Villegas, Amber Alligood and Zack Woolard. Providing musical accompaniment are Taiwan Godley, Brandon Banks, Lee Burgess, Ronnie Daw, Carson Blond and Kendall Smith.
The WHS Visual & Performing Arts Department faculty members head up the production. They are R. Travis Carter, Melissa Manning-Moore, Damon Walcott, Abigail Shuford and Penny P. Paul.
