Hardy G. Alligood

Mr. Hardy G. Alligood, 69, submitted himself to the will of Christ and went to be with Him in Heaven on Thursday in Columbia, SC.

The Homecoming celebration will be Monday at 11 a.m. at New Destiny Church in Greenville.

Hardy was a beloved son, husband, daddy, granddaddy, great-granddaddy, friend and brother in-law. For 12 years, he was employed for Cargill and for 16 years with Weyerhaeuser before going into construction. He and his wife served as night managers for the Domestic Violence Program, and he served as President of the Board for the ministry Eagles Wings Christian Love in Action.

Many called him “Pop” because he was there to help, guide, teach and take them under his wing on the jobsite. Hardy loved Rose, his family and church, he willingly gave to those in need. He attended Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Chocowinity until his wife accepted the pastorate at New Hope Pentecostal Holiness Church in Blounts Creek. Their work as a team led them also to help in the ministry at Graceway Pentecostal Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Margaret Alligood; and a brother, Dalton Alligood.

He is survived by his: wife, Rose Haddock Alligood; sons, Hardy G. Alligood, Jr. and wife, Michelle, Chris Alligood and wife, Lee Ann, Jeremy Hewitt and wife, Noemi, Gene Swanner and wife, Cindy, Aaron Paul Swanner and wife, Jennifer, and Rev. Marc Swanner and wife, Denise; daughters, Beth Barrow and husband, Mike and LouAnne Dunn and husband, Bryan; 22 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Boyd, Catherine Yontz, Donna Alligood, Lois Blackstok, and Joyce Alligood; brothers, Darrell Alligood and Harley Alligood, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews; and also his special little dog, Ellie.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 27, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at New Destiny Church, 2600 E. Fire Tower Rd., Greenville.
