Chocowinity Middle competes in Battle of the Books

CHOCOWINITY MIDDLE SCHOOL BATTLE OF THE BOOKS: Chocowinity Middle School students competed during the month of March in two Battle of the Books competitions, one for elementary grades and one for middle school. The middle school competition was held on March 1. CMS competed against other middle school teams from the district and placed third overall. Members of the middle school team are Vernon Collins, Kylie Bowden, Elizabeth Gagnon, Sarah Petty, Yasmin Woolard, Yoselin Lugo Reyes, Monaya Rodman, Hailey Taylor, Ryan Libengood, Xavier Casiano, Talia Askew and Jarrett Lohman. The elementary Battle of the Books competition for fourth- and fifth-graders was held on March 22. CMS tied for fourth place with CPS. Members of the elementary school team are Walker Hill, Madison Grimsley, Amber Dickinson, MacKenzie Jeter, Matthew Purcell, Hunter Rowe, Rosa Pichardo, Daniela Hernandez Gomez and Dakoda Sutton. Battle of the Books is a quiz-bowl-type competition organized by the North Carolina School Library Media Association.
