From Historic Bath State Historic Site

Come join the staff at Historic Bath Site for a cup of hot coffee and a lecture on an interesting topic to be held at the Historic Bath visitor center on Saturday at 10 a.m. The topic is timely as the Town of Bath and the historic site are celebrating the 300th anniversary of the naming of Bath as the first official port of entry for the colony of North Carolina.

Brunswick Town/Ft. Anderson historian and site manager, Jim McKee, will present the lecture entitled “Colonial Shipping at Port Brunswick and Bath.” Through Mr. McKee’s PowerPoint presentation, the audience will learn about McKee’s research and physical work on three colonial wharves that have been uncovered at Brunswick since 2010. Some similarities would have been found at wharves located in Bath during Colonial times and McKee will help draw those conclusions.

The 10 a.m. lecture tomorrow will be held at the visitor center at 207 Carteret St., Bath, and is free of charge.
