R. Glenn Gibbs
May 31, 1952 – April 19, 2016

Roy Glenn Gibbs, 63, of 8359 North Lake Road, Fairfield, died, Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at his residence.

Born in Beaufort County on May 31, 1952, he was the son of the late Joshua V. and Jeanette “Jean” Selby Gibbs. He was married to Margaret E. “Sissie” Gibbs, who survives.

He was a member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, former member of the Hyde County Board of Education, he served on the Hyde County Occupancy Tax Board and he was a member of the Perquimans Masonic Lodge No. 106 AF&AM, where he received his 25 year pin.

He was a Marine Patrol Enforcement Officer II, training upcoming officers on the north and south coast of North Carolina. In 2005 he was recognized as officer of the year and in 2007 he retired after 26 years of service. He was past president of the Mattamuskeet Booster Club and a member of the Engelhard EDC.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2016 at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. Steven Mills and Raffael Farrow will officiate. Burial will follow at the family plot in Fulford Cemetery.

In addition to his wife surviving are three sons; Scott Gibbs and wife Megan, Mitchell Gibbs and Lane Gibbs and wife Jordan; a brother, Joshua V. Gibbs, Jr.; two sisters, Katrina Mills and husband Jeff, Lori Johnston and husband Mark; three grandchildren, Starlyn, Kaidynce and Ava.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the home place at 8359 North Lake Road, Fairfield.
