One hundred and two clients were present when the Saturday Night Jamboree met recently at the Redmen’s Lodge in Washington. Registrar Tillie Braddy and Kaitlyn Cutler signed in clients with loving assistance from Joyce Carawan.

DJ Redmen member Kenneth Beacham played music for dancing and listening pleasure. Kenneth also led the activities and made announcements while loyal volunteer Swindell Braddy kept a watchful eye on the outside of the facility.

Martha Seighman led the happy birthday song to all clients who had April birthdays, while Joyce Carawan placed birthday hats on all the birthday clients.

A prayer was said by Joseph Harris followed by pizza and the trimmings served by First United Methodist Church.

The servers included: David Gossett, John Nesbitt, Robbie King, Carl Crozier, Paige Davis, Kemp Huss, Tim Cashion and Kin Wood.

Each client received a chocolate marshmallow treat provided by the Jamboree, and passed out by caring volunteers, Kin Wood, Tine Woolard, Martha Seighman, Joyce Carawan, Michael Cutler and Kaitlyn Cutler.

A special guest joined the clients in dancing and fun: the Easter Bunny! He also gave out door prizes, which included winners Bobby Haire, Dereck Kilbarger, John Farmer, Thomas Williams, Greg Patton and Ronnie Martin. Special thanks are extended to Chuck Williams who was the key participant in providing the Jamboree with the special guest appearance for the evening.

The next Jamboree will be the annual May prom on the first Saturday of the month-May 7, 2016. All area mentally/physically-challenged residents and all volunteers are invited to mark their calendars and wear their Sunday best. As a special note the Jamboree is selling raffle tickets for a 65 Quart Yeti Cooler, 32 oz. Yeti Cup and drink holder at one ticket for $5 or five tickets for $20. This effort is in support of the Redmen’s Lodge building fund. The Jamboree is enjoying 43 years of support for special clients in our community and the Redmen Lodge has been home for the Jamboree for most of those years. The building is in need of a new roof and several internal improvements. The Jamboree wants to work to contribute to this effort to show appreciation for the love and the support that the Redmen have provided to us all these years and also to help insure that the lodge is in place to continue to support our communities.
