WILSON — The Washington Pam Pack continued its winning ways by cruising to a win over Beddingfield Friday afternoon by a 5-0 score. The Pack jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings and eased home over the final five frames against an outmanned Beddingfield nine. With the win, the Pack moves to 5-3 in conference play and 15-7 overall.

The Pack jumped on the Bruins from the very first batter when junior Matthew Black stroked a single to start the game. With one out, sophomore Fred Holscher and senior Neill Jennings hit back-to-back doubles scoring Black and then Holscher.

In the top of the second, sophomore Chris Sulc opened with a double and then scored on a one-out single by sophomore Tyler Harrell. In the fourth inning, Sulc opened the inning with a fly to left field, which was dropped by the left fielder. Sulc legged out this opportunity to end up at second.

After moving up to third on a passed ball, Sulc tagged and scored on Black’s fly out to centerfield. The Pack ended the scoring in the top of the fifth when Holscher led off with a single, stole second and scored on junior Logan Little’s single to right-center field.

Offensively, the Pack collected nine hits with Holscher contributing a single and double, Black adding two singles, Jennings and Sulc hitting for doubles. Harrell, Little, and junior Riley Davis all added singles, too.

Defensively, the Pack pitched by committee with junior Cody Godley starting the game and pitching the first three innings. Godley gave up one infield single and struck out two Bruin batters over his three innings of work. Little came on in the fourth and did not allow any hits and struck out three Bruin batters during his two innings of work. Sulc closed the game by allowing no hits and striking out four Bruins.

After winning a game that it should have, the Pack now turns its attention to a week as it takes on the two of the top-five 2-A teams in the state in North Pitt (home on Tuesday) and North Johnston (away on Friday). The Pack currently sits tied for second in the conference with North Pitt, and trails unbeaten North Johnston, which will win the conference.
