Jessie Allen Cannon

Jessie Allen Cannon, “Allan,” 63, of Greenville, passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with lung cancer on May 1, 2016. He was born on September 25, 1952 in Pitt Co., NC, to Jessie and Bessie Cannon. Allan was preceded in death by his biological father, Jessie Cannon; his dad, who raised him, Harvey Stallings and his mother, Bessie Stallings.

He served in the United States Army for two years and retired from Perdue Farm Co. Allan recently started attending Berean Baptist Church and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing, crabbing, playing cards and visiting the beach, with his special buddy, Frisco.

Allan is survived by his two daughters, Melanie Jackson and husband, Wes, of Wake Forest and Shara Livingston and husband, Bill, of Newport. He also leaves behind his very special love for more than 20 years, Portia Peaden, of Washington; one brother, Lindsay Cannon and wife, Kathryn; a sister, Pamela Cannon Frizzelle, of Ayden and eight grandchildren, Bailey, Bethany and Will Jackson, Camille, Hudson, Cannon, Mandy and Connor Livingston. He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews and his dog, Frisco. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Timothy Hogan and his staff for their genuine care and concern that they have shown to Allan over the past several months.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 3:00pm at Berean Baptist Church, 2549 NC 102E, Ayden, NC 28513. Interment will follow in the Ayden Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, from 6-8pm at Farmer Funeral Service-Ayden.
