KENLY — The Washington Pam Pack’s up and down season continued Saturday night in Kenly as the Pack nine ended its regular season with a 2-0 loss to conference champion North Johnston. In a game in which pitching dominated, the Pack had a couple of chances to score. However, in each case, the big hit eluded the boys.

North Johnston scored its two runs in the bottom of the second inning off junior Cody Godley. The home team strung together three base hits, a walk, and a sacrifice fly. The Panthers threatened in the bottom of the fourth when three consecutive walks loaded the bases with two outs.

The Pack turned to sophomore Chris Sulc, who induced a comebacker to end the threat. Sulc pitched the fifth and sixth frames without giving up a hit.

The Pack threatened in the top of the fifth when Sulc hit for a single and sophomore Tyler Harrell walked. With two outs, junior Uria Aaron struck out to end the threat. The Pack again scared the Panthers in the top of the seventh when junior Tripp Barfield led off with a solid single and, with one out, Sulc and Harrell singled consecutively to load the bases. However, Aaron and junior Matt Black both struck out to end the game.

The Pack collected seven hits in the game, and actually out hit the Panthers, who had five hits. Godley collected a double and single, and Sulc collected two singles. Barfield, Aaron, and Harrell all contributed one single apiece. Godley gave up five hits, with three costly hits coming in the decisive second frame. Godley also walked five batters. Defensively, the Pack played well and did not commit an error in the field.

The Pack ended its conference season at .500 with five wins and five losses. Overall, the Pack ended the year at 15-9.
