Sybil A. McInturff

Sybil Amelia McInturff, 83, of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Sunnyside Retirement Community, Harrisonburg. She was born in Washington, N.C., on Jan. 14, 1933, and was a daughter of the late Eva Estelle (Woolard) and Charles Thomas Alligood.

Sybil graduated from Bath High School in Bath, N.C., in 1951 and later received her computer programming certificate from the state of Georgia.

Mrs. McInturff was a quality inspector clerk at Marshall’s until she retired in 1998. She previously worked as a payroll clerk at Sperry and Hutchinson in Atlanta, Ga., a teller at Rockingham National Bank, and was also employed by Shenandoah Foods.

She was united in marriage June 30, 1967, to Marion “Buddy” Franklin McInturff, who preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 2011. In addition, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Coy Hoover Alligood, John Edward Alligood and Charles Swindell Alligood; and a sister, Carrie Louise Marshall.

Surviving Mrs. McInturff are her daughter, Julia Eve Horn and husband, Brian, of Dayton; her son, Franklin T. McInturff of Dayton; a sister, Thelma O. Picard of Washington, N.C.; a brother, Joseph T. Alligood and wife, Carolyn, of Washington, N.C.; grandchildren, Wade Aaron Horn and wife, Anna, Lauren Elizabeth Horn and Quentin Alexander Horn; a sister-in-law, Vallee Burruss; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Bridgewater with Chaplain Paul O’Gorek officiating. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
