Sheriff Darryl Liverman reported May 17 that he and his deputies responded to 1,096 law enforcement, 44 ambulance, and one fire calls throughout Tyrrell County during April.

Officers made 63 arrests on 72 criminal charges, including shoplifting, simple physical assault, possessing stolen property, indecent exposure, drug violations, and traffic offenses.

Deputies served 40 criminal and 25 civil papers for District or Superior Court.

Officers drove 768 miles and logged 16.5 hours transporting inmates to and from confinement facilities. Three males and one female were housed at Washington County Detention Center for various periods during April, at a cost of $955.

Seven deputies received a total of 112 hours of in-service training during April.

And the sheriff and his officers drove 15,645 miles on duty.
