Frances “Frankie” Jones

Mrs. Frances Meredith Sawyer “Frankie” Jones, age 84, a resident of Washington, died Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Golden Living Hospice Center of Tarboro.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven, officiated by Pastor Stanley Allen. Burial will follow in Belhaven Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Cooper, Brad Cooper, Todd Alexander and Brayden Woolard.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Mrs. Frankie was born in Beaufort County on September 10, 1931, daughter of the late Ivey Franklin Sawyer and the late Lucy Robbins Sawyer. She was a 1950 graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School. On November 3, 1950 she married Clifton Casey “Cliff” Jones who preceded her in death on August 10, 1986. Mrs. Frankie was a well-known salesperson, having worked at J.D. Dawsons of Belhaven and Roscoe Griffins Shoe Store of Washington. She attended the First Christian Church of Belhaven.

Survivors include a son: Billy Jones and wife Phyllis of Washington; two daughters: Debbie J. Cooper and husband Vann and Tammy Jones, all of Washington; five grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Frankie was predeceased by a brother: Gerald Sawyer and a sister: Nina Leigh Sawyer.
