GREENVILLE — Lawrence Behr, chief executive officer of the Greenville-based LBA Group Inc., has been reappointed to the Goose Creek State Park Advisory Committee.

The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources Division of Parks and Recreation made his appointment to a second term. State Parks Director Michael A. Murphy confirmed the three-year term appointment that begins on Aug. 1.

“(Behr’s) knowledge, experience and interest will provide important assistance to the park and the Division of Parks and Recreation as we plan together for the future,” Murphy said.

Behr has been a leader in the broadcast and wireless communications engineering industry for more than 50 years. His entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, combined with a passion for the outdoors and the regional environment, will be called upon as a member of the committee.

“By adding (his) voice and active commitment to this advisory committee, we will take a step toward creating a brighter future for Goose Creek State Park and the North Carolina State Park System,” Murphy added.

Goose Creek State Park is comprised of more than 1,200 acres of land including the majestic marsh, swamp and Spanish moss-draped giant oaks along the Pamlico River and Goose Creek in Beaufort County. Behr lives in Washington on the Pamlico River and has intimate knowledge of the park as a regular hiker, paddler and sailor. He also currently serves as treasurer of Sound Rivers, an advocacy group for some of eastern North Carolina’s most treasured waterways.

“I look forward to another three years on the advisory committee as we work to preserve and maintain the sustainability of this great natural resource,” Behr said. “I am honored to be invited to serve another term.”
