Ridgewood under new management

Ridgewood Rehabilitation & Living Center is under new management.

CCH Healthcare, a company based out of Lakewood, New Jersey, purchased the center earlier this year, but the decision was not announced until the end of June.

The health care company now owns four rehabilitation centers in North Carolina, as well as locations in the Chicago area and New Jersey, and it is continuing to grow the span of its ownership.

Ridgewood was formerly owned by Apex, but the company had to sell off its facilities when business went south, according to Courtney Mitchell, marketing director at Ridgewood.

Mitchell said despite the corporate switch, patients can still expect to see familiar faces at the local level.

“This will have no impact on that whatsoever,” she said of staffing. “They’re going to continue to work with the patients.”

According to Mitchell, many of the staff members have put in many years with Ridgewood, and patients have been known to come there because of a staff member.

“We all have a long, dedicated history,” she said.

Although staffing will remain the same, major renovations are in the works.

During the first phase of renovations, CCH Healthcare plans to remodel the entrance and lobby area, as well as redo the rehabilitation gym and install state-of-the-art equipment, she said. Short-term stay rooms will also undergo renovations, and the parking lot is to be redone.

In the long term, Mitchell said CCH also plans to renovate the long-term care rooms.

She said the renovations are much-needed changes, as the facility — especially the outside — has aged. Ridgewood focuses on patient care, and this often meant the facility itself was of lower priority in years past, she said.

“It’s just so exciting,” Mitchell said of the renovations. “The building has always been neglected.”

Located on Highland Drive in Washington, Ridgewood offers rehabilitation services, including physical therapy and occupational therapy, and long-term patient care. The facility houses 150 beds and has more than 100 residents.
