No one filed as an unaffiliated candidate for Tyrrell County Board of Commissioners before the June 24 deadline, which means there will be no contest for the three seats on Nov. 8.

Incumbents Tommy Everett and Carl Willis, and former commissioner Lawrence Swain, will be the only names printed on the ballot for four-year terms on Tyrrell’s governing body, Debbie Swain, elections director, said.

Two-term incumbent Larry G. Hill, a Democrat, did not file for re-election.

No other Democrats and no Republicans entered the party primaries in March, and no unaffiliated candidates filed.

Democrat Gene Reynolds, running for her first full term as register of deeds, is also unopposed on Nov. 8.

In the March 15 non-partisan election for two seats on the Tyrrell County Board of Education, incumbents Janie Spencer and Lee Scripture were re-elected. Their only opposition came from 11 write-in votes.
