Pirates, soldiers take over port of Bath

Pirates and their hunters took over the state dock Saturday at Bath’s annual Pirates in the Port event. Dozens of people took in the narrated story and re-enactment of Blackbeard taking his leave with crew from the shores of Bath Creek, along with his subsequent return — or his head’s return — with the British Lt. Maynard. A trial on the grounds of the Palmer-Marsh House followed. Also on the grounds of the Palmer-Marsh House were several living history displays, showing what cooking, medicine, weapons and more were like in the colonial period.
