Richland Seniors hold July meeting

The Richland Seniors Club held its regular meeting on July 5. Ann Cayton opened the meeting by asking Mary E. Galloway to read devotionals and lead the Lord’s Prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Alice Briley told of our trip to the aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, and how much it was enjoyed and of the interesting food items available for lunch at the Tsunami Restaurant in Morehead.

Alice gave a progress report on entertainment plans for the community Christmas party — we will use local and in-house talented people to entertain.

As we try and give every person a gift, Ken Lilly asked that we try and donate more suitable and useful gifts for men. There is a need for monetary donations at the St. John’s Church on Main Street in Aurora. A discussion resulted in the club donating $50. Alice won the 50/50 drawing (again) and donated that to the food bank.

It was suggested the club form a singing group; more discussion to be held later. Jonell Barber read two amusing poems, Ann Cayton led us in finger and arm exercises. Ken offered the blessing and a covered-dish meal was enjoyed by all.
