A Belhaven man was arrested on Friday in relation to reports of breaking and entering and theft.
Andy Filmore Kirk, 35, of Loop Road in Belhaven, was charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering and two counts of damage to real property, according to a press release from Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday, authorities received reports from Eddie’s Service Station, located on N.C. Highway 32 in Pinetown, and Veri Kwik, located on N.C. Highway 33 in Edward, that a suspect had allegedly stolen cigarettes from both locations, as well as beer, candy and $150 in cash from Veri Kwik.
According to the release, a similar crime occurred in Pamlico County, and authorities from both counties believed it to be the same suspect.
The Pamlico County break-in happened on Thursday, as well, according Lt. Jim VanLandingham with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division.
The press release stated that surveillance video from the Beaufort County locations showed the same suspect driving the same car, and VanLandingham said he was also wearing the same sweatshirt with a previous employer’s logo.
VanLandingham said the suspect entered Eddie’s Service Station by bursting the glass in the front door. The suspect used his car to push through the front door at Veri Kwik, according to the release.
Kirk is being held in Beaufort County Detention Center on a $25,000 secured bond and received a $10,000 secured bond in Pamlico County.
“He is required to satisfy the condition of bond in each county before he can be released,” VanLandingham said.
