Mrs. Peggy Jenkins Leggett, age 76, a resident of 191 Belgian Lane, Washington, NC died Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Snowd Branch Church of God officiated by Pastors Jerry Waters and Jack Holloman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Joe Knox, Joseph Knox, Chris White, Johnny Leggett, Ed Dixon and Alan Peele will serve as pallbearers. Tommy Lilley and George Jones will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Leggett was born in Pitt County on September 5, 1939, daughter of the late Paul Hassell Jenkins and Nolia Hodges Jenkins. She was a graduate of Grimesland High School Class of 1958. On January 6, 1962, she married James “Frog” Leggett who preceded her in death on September 24, 2007. Mrs. Leggett was employed with National Spinning until her retirement. She was a member of Snowd Branch Church of God.
She is survived by her son: Tim Leggett and wife Gina of Washington; two sisters: Nellie J. Moore and Dot J. Alligood both of Washington; several nieces and nephews: two special great nephews: Justin and Brodie Moore and two special great nieces: Starlyn and Harley Alligood and her faithful companion lab named Hershey.
