The Washington (evening) Rotary Club held its weekly meeting Thursday at the Washington Yacht & Country Club.

Following a time for fellowship, members assembled in the Pamlico Room at 6:30 p.m., where President David McLawhorn convened the meeting.

Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance, raised their voices in one verse of “America the Beautiful,” after which a blessing and prayer of thanksgiving was offered prior to the meal.

The traditional “Health & Happiness” report was presented by Serena Sullivan.

Trip Bliley, the evening’s program chairman, introduced Dayna Farkington, LCSW, LCAS, with Alliance for Healthy Community, and Arden Root, a certified marketplace navigator with Access East, Inc./ACA Navigators.

In turn, each of these professionals gave an interesting and informative insight into the myriad efforts and initiatives being undertaken to assist the underserved in need of counseling, support and information regarding access to the many and varied components of material, physical and behavioral health care here in Beaufort County.

There is an ongoing effort to bring together all of the varied aspects of information and assistance into an integrated care model. Such a comprehensive community resource entity can and will serve those in need far more effectively than a non-integrated approach.

Following the presentation, President McLawhorn presented each a “highly coveted” Rotary (writing) pen, thanking them for an excellent program.

There being no further business to come before the club, the meeting was adjourned with President McLawhorn stating the 2016-17 Rotary International pledge of “Rotary Serving Humanity.”
