Arthur Harvey King Jr.

Arthur Harvey King Jr., departed this life on Thursday, August 11, 2016. He was born June 7, 1942 in Washington, to Arthur Harvey King Sr. and Olivia Graddy. He was predeceased in death by his parents and his son Andre Donovan King. Arthur was a hard working individual as evidenced by his 35 years of service with Schering Plough Pharmaceuticals in Kenilworth, New Jersey. He retired from his position as a scientist with Schering Plough in January 2003. In Arthur’s spare time he worked as an Emergency Medical Technician. He also became a licensed pilot and enjoyed deep sea fishing. Arthur dedicated his life to serving Jehovah God. His dedication was symbolized by baptism in 1982. He spent many hours each month ministering as an Elder, Book Study Overseer and Pioneer as well as performing other various duties at the Kingdom Hall. He was joined in this special work by his wife Vern Adams King whom he married in 1983 in New Jersey.

Arthur is survived by his wife Vern; son Alan Darnell King (Mary) of Wilmington, NC; daughter Arlene Danielle King of Greenville, NC; two sisters, Olivia B. King of Philadelphia, PA and Camilla K. McCutheon also of Philadelphia, PA; two brothers Lance Earl King and Milton G. King, both of Washington. Grandchildren include Antwan Devahn King, Brian Timothy King, Andrea Brianna King, Darcell Cherise King, Kim Andrea Huckoby, Aysia King, Andre King Jr. and Lynia Henderson King. He has five great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 2:00 pm at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Washington. The family will receive friends Friday, August 26, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations and other times at the home.
