The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 5:15 p.m.

An area of strong thunderstorms will affect southwestern Beaufort County.

At 3:40 p.m., strong thunderstorms were clustered near Grifton, moving east at 25 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea-size hail are possible with the storms.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with the storms and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive a vehicle through flooding roadways.
